Le Plan Stratégique de Développement (PSD) pour 2016-2020, vise à doter la Tunisie d’un modèle de développement fondé sur une croissance verte et inclusive. Par ailleurs, consciente de sa dépendance aux énergies fossiles, la Tunisie promeut depuis les années 2000 une intégration progressive des énergies renouvelables dans le mix énergétique, le Plan solaire tunisien, d’un montant prévu de 5,5 Mds€ en investissements publics et privés d’ici 2030, prévoit une contribution des EnR au mix énergétique à hauteur de 30% de la production d’électricité à horizon 2030. Conformément au volet « efficacité énergétique » du Plan solaire tunisien (plan stratégique dans le domain des énergies renouvelables), l’objectif principal est de réduire d’ici 2016 de 22% la consommation énergétique nationale.
